Oil and wax finish. Handmade by Stephen McRae so dimensions, colour and shape may vary. Similar to the wrought Iron Wren this cut out has been heated in the gas furnace, forged over the anvil using a cross pein hammer and then, like the Bold as Brass Robin, brazed on both sides with solid brass giving it the distinct general bee stripes. Twisting the wings in opposite directions give it a real sense of take-off, out and about, doing its thing. This hanging version of the Busy Bee is perfect for hanging all sorts from or just as an ornament hanging in the garden catching the breeze and highlighting its suspended almost in-flight qualities. Each Bee is given a sand and polish before coating in an environmentally user-friendly vegetable-based oil and wax finish. Left outside, exposed to the elements, this design will oxidise slowly leaving a lovely natural finish. The brass element will dull over time but can easily be cleaned back to its original bright finish. If you wish to keep the bee pristine and original in appearance, then we recommend you regularly oil and wax it or treat with any clear protective lacquer (sprayed or painted on) before putting outside.
